What to Consider

Posts

Materials

Posts are the foundation of the fence and the most important part. Deciding whether you'd like your fence built with 4x4, 5x5, or 6x6 posts is entirely up to you. The larger the posts the sturdier the fence.

Fences built by Deck Savvy are primarily ornamental iron or wood.

Ornamental iron is a way to add a beautiful long lasting fence while giving a more open feel to your property. Choose from different designs and sizes to fit your style.

Pressure treated is the most common type of material used for fences and is manufactured to stand up to the elements. Rough pine creates a rustic and brawnier feel as the boards are much wider and thicker than other fence boards. With rough pine you also have the ability to stain or paint your project immediately after its construction. Cedar is a more luxurious alternative to pressure treated. Cedar is naturally made to stand up to the elements and has a beautiful look and smell to it.

The style of fence you want is dependent on what fits your needs. The style you want can vary from having the fence boards vertical or horizontal, overlapping each other, having spaces between the boards, having rails visible on your side of the fence, or the size of rails you'd like etc.

Depending on where you live your municipality may have different regulations regarding the height of fence you are allowed. In the London Middlesex area you are permitted to have a fence no higher than 7 feet.

Whether you decide to go with an ornamental fence or a wood fence there is a great variety of gates to go with them. We also offer the option to create custom designs.

When it comes to the life of any project one of the most important factors is it's foundation. Every post hole is dug by our own Deck Savvy crew to ensure that your fences' posts are set to the proper four foot depth and solidified with concrete. All fasteners are rated for outdoor use and all exposed posts are capped to prevent water from entering its most vulnerable spot. You can trust a fence built by Deck Savvy.
